Arsenal News: Arsene Wenger Must Make Record Bid To Bring Neymar to the Emirates

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger must make a record bid in order to add Brazilian star Neymar and make the Gunners a real threat to win the Premier League.

The young Santos star is one of the most sought-after players in the world, and despite recently signing a new contract with his current club, Neymar might leave his home country for the right price and destination.

Wenger said the following about Neymar via ESPN:

If I had the money today, I'd put it on Neymar. You can't say that Neymar is Pele, as he had won the World Cup by the age of 17.

He has the potential to be one of the future great strikers, but at the moment there's a big difference between the Brazilian league and a European league.

The problem with securing a transfer for Neymar is that he is valued at about £40 million. Wenger rarely spends big money to acquire players, and he decided to sell Arsenal stars Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy over the summer without making any massive signings.

However, Neymar is an enormous talent and Wenger needs to prove to his players and the fans that the club is willing to spend big money on major talents by making a bid for the young Brazilian.

Despite his inexperience, Neymar would be a huge addition to the Arsenal attack. He can dribble very well with both feet, he has pace and he is a quality goal scorer.

Neymar and Robin van Persie would be a top striker tandem and a duo that opposing clubs would dread facing.

On Monday, Neymar won the Brazilian league's player of the year award. He scored 13 goals in 21 games for Santos.

Neymar has been compared to Brazilian legend Pele, who, of course, is one of the greatest football players ever.

While the young star has a long way to go before he reaches Pele's status, there's little doubt he will be a top talent for many years.

Arsenal have a good young roster but they need another attacking presence, especially if van Persie does not sign a new long-term contract soon.

With Neymar, Arsenal would be a top contender for the Premier League title, and would be a major threat in the UEFA Champions League.

Wenger must make a bid for Neymar to prove that the Gunners are seriously committed to winning trophies in the near future.
