Ryan Fitzpatrick: Why Buffalo QB Is an MVP Candidate

Josh Truelove

OH HO HO FITZMAGIC!

Ryan Fitzpatrick has the Buffalo Bills off to a 3-0 start and is playing better than any quarterback in the league, outside of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.

Fitzpatrick has people talking in early Most Valuable Player discussions. Could he really be the MVP? A seventh-round draft pick out of Harvard who plays for the Buffalo Bills?!

It is entirely possible. Here are four reasons why Ryan Fitzpatrick is an MVP candidate.

4: Spread Offense Will Give Fitzpatrick Big Numbers

Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown for 841 yards and nine touchdowns with a passer rating of 103.5 through the first three games of the season.

A big reason: Chan Gailey's spread offense.

Not to take away from Fitzpatrick's play, but Chan Gailey's spread offense is the perfect system for a guy like Fitzpatrick and helps him put up big numbers.

The Bills have three viable wide receivers, a good pass-catching tight end and a great running back. Fitzpatrick's numbers will continue grow.

3: The Massive Turnaround from Last Season

The Bills only won four games last season. They have won three this season already.

Why? Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the biggest reason for Buffalo's turnaround. He definitely has some help in Fred Jackson, Stevie Johnson and David Nelson, but Fitzpatrick is the major contributor.

Without Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Bills would be 1-2 right now and not 3-0.

2: Fitzpatrick Out-Brady'd Tom Brady

He is known for coming through in the big situation. He is calm, cool and collected under pressure. He thrives in the fourth quarter. Winning is what he does.

That is usually how we all describe Tom Brady. Well, not last Sunday. Last week, Ryan Fitzpatrick out-Brady'd Brady. Brady threw four interceptions while Fitzpatrick led the Bills to their biggest win in years.

Brady crumbled while Fitzpatrick thrived.

1: Fitzpatrick Is Circling the Wagons

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been the king of comeback this season in the NFL. Over the last two weeks, the Bills became the first team in NFL history to come back from being down 18 points in consecutive weeks.

With Fitzpatrick leading the team to big comebacks, he is proving that he is a winner. One thing we all look for in quarterbacks is their ability to lead in big situations, and Fitzpatrick has that ability.

Remember...

NOBODY circles the wagons, like the Buffalo Bills!
