Michael "Air" Jordan is the greatest player ever for many reasons, but one of my favorite reasons is that he averaged 21.2 points per game in the last 30 games of the 2002-03 season.

In his last 30 games Jordan was 40 years old.He became the only 40 year old to ever score over 20 points per game and the only 40 year old to ever score 40 or more points in a game. He was the oldest NBA MVP ever at age 35 and he was the oldest scoring champion ever at age 35, and he was the oldest player to ever score 50 or more points in a game at age 38 in his first season with the Wiz.   

But these are the best 10 games of the 30 games that Jordan played at over age 40.  

For sure the GOAT, The Most Excellent Assassin. 

#10: Gm 55 Feb.23, 2003 vs Dallas

Dallas beat Washington but MJ scored 30 points on 14/26 from the field and 2/2 from the line. Also, the old man grabbed nine rebounds and had three assists, two steals and one block in a valiant personal effort. Too bad the rest of the Wizards were not valiant this night.  

#9: Gm 71 March 26, 2003 @ Seattle

This old man, he played sticks, he played knickknack on my team. Seattle lost this home game to the Wizards and it was because of the core of the team: Michael Jordan.

Jordan hauled 44 minutes ate age 40 which is insane. Jordan took 22 shots and made 12 of them. He also added 2/3 ft's. He scored 26 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished four assists and stole it twice and he also had a blocked shot in the big win. WTF? MJ was dirty, yo.  

#8: Gm 62 March 7, 2003 vs Milwaukee

MJ scored 27 in this loss to Milwaukee. He was 11/24 from the field and 5/6 from the line. The GOAT also added nine rebounds, three assists and two awesome defensive steals! Great stuff man. 

#7: Gm 75 April 3, 2003 @ Atlanta

The Wizards could not pull it all together, but only the 40 year old MJ could. The Wiz lost in the ATL. Jordan played an awesome 43 minutes and made 10/23 and 2/2 from the line for 22 points. Amazingly the old man grabbed 14 rebounds and dished off for seven assists and also added two steals. 

You should be ashamed of yourselves Jordan haters. This man is the beast of all beasts on the court suckas. 

#6: Gm 70 March 25, 2003 @ Portland

The Wizards were able to beat the Blazers and the 40 year old Jordan is mostly why. MJ played 41 minutes and scored 25 points on 11/19 from the field and 3/4 from the line. 

The best ever also added five rebounds, seven assists and two steals in the win. Great defense MJ. 

#5: Gm 76 April 6, 2003 @ Bost

Six games left in the career of the guy who first played an NBA in October 1984. It was 2003 and MJ was still the greatest player ever, and in 2011 he still is.

In this game Jordan amassed 25 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and two steals vs Paul Pierce and the Celtics. Jordan played an astonishing 47 minutes in this game, which seems like senior abuse to me. 

#4: Gm 57 February 27, 2003 vs Houston

In this big win MJ scorched the Rockets for 35 points, and he was 40 years old, and a shooting guard, which is massively sick.

Jordan made 15/26 from the field and 5/7 from the line. He added 11 rebounds and six nifty assists. Yo, this dude's the greatest man.  

#3: Gm 77 April 8, 2003 @ Cleveland

Too bad it was a year before LeBron came, cuz Jordan would'a schooled him too. Instead he led the Wiz to a win vs the Cavs. He always has schooled the Cavs. 

MJ, at age 40, and in his fifth to last game ever scored 26 points in 46 minutes and he added 10 rebounds and three assists but he was particularly dominant defensively as the Cavs had no way to get past the old man who had a blocked shot and three steals.

#2: Gm 63 March 9, 2003 @ NY

Ah Madison Square Garden, and MJ at age 40 equals sickness from the GOAT.

Jordan scored 39 points added eight rebounds, one assist and one steal. He made 13/22 from the field and 13/15 from the line. 

Michael Jordan was born on Brooklyn you know. 

#1: Gm 54 February 21, 2003 vs NJ

New Jersey went to the Finals in 2003 but not before losing to MJ and the Wizards. Jordan had just turned 40 a week before so he took his talent out on the best team in the East. 

Michael set a record this night for being the only 40 year old or over to score 40 points or over in a game thereby PROVING that he is the greatest player of all time. 

Jordan scored 43 points in 43 minutes by shooting 18/30 from the field and 7/7 from the line. He geabbed 10 rebounds and had three assists too. Most amazingly was his effort on the defensive end, because this senior citizen of basketball had four steals and one blocked shot too!

Conclusion

Michael Jeffrey Jordan is the greatest basketball player ever, not just because he NEVER LOST once in the Finals, was a six time champion and six time Finals MVP or that he led the NBA in scoring 10 times or finished his ENTIRE CAREER ,which went from 1984 to 2003, with the highest scoring average ever at 30.1 ppg for his career.

He is not just the greatest because he has the highest playoff scoring average ever and the record for most points ever in a playoff game with 63, or not only because he led the NBA in steals three times and was the Defensive Player of the Year once or that he has blocked more shots than any guard in NBA history or that he is a five time NBA MVP.

He is the greatest because he did this at age 40, which is eight years older than Kobe Bryant is now, and Shaq, who is now 38 is down to nine points per game or Duncan who is only 35. Kareem played at over 40 but not like this and Cousy tried, to no avail. Malone and Stockton played at over 4o but neither could muster this type of production.

In the end the argument is a joke seeing what MJ did at 40. No one will ever top you Mike, if there was we'd know it, but no one is this good. Thanks for everything GOAT, I mean Mike.
