World Football: Arsenal and the Latest Buzz in Transfer Rumors

Jon Gilbert

Transfer rumors are beginning to heat up in the English Premier League and elsewhere in Europe as teams look for players they believe will solve their problems.

Some players want out of what they have deemed bad situations and some teams are wanting to unload talent that has panned out or they don't have room for.

Which transfers will actually take place are beginning to take shape with big names at the center of the rumor mill. Fans definitely have in mind what they hope goes down.

Here are the latest transfer rumors in world football.

Luis Suarez May Be Headed to Liverpool

Kenny Daglish took over at Liverpool in hopes of turning the Reds disappointing season around. Daglish got off to a poor start, losing in his first two matches as manager.

Now he's surveying the transfer market in hopes of finding some new pieces to boost results and morale in Anfield.

With Fernando Torres continuing to show such poor form, Daglish has reportedly been seeking Ajax strike Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan national had a splendid World Cup this past summer and has been Ajax goal-scoring lifeblood in recent years.

Arsenal Has Its Eye on Youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

As is the case in major football, the big clubs consistently snatch up the all the transcendent talent from the smaller clubs. It looks like Arsenal is close to doing so again to Southhampton.

Southhampton is the current home of 17-year-old star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The midfielder has scored seven goals this season for the Saints.

It's Oxlade-Chamberlain's speed and strength that are drawing comparisons to current Gunner Theo Walcott and have Arsenal so enamored. It's reportedly going to cost Arsenal £5 million.

Could Karim Benzema Be Headed To Aston Villa?

Karim Benzema's absence from the French World Cup team this summer could have been a harbinger of his play with club team Real Madrid. It's been a colossal disappoint that has left Benzema with only one goal in 17 appearances.

Both totals were expected to be higher for the striker with immense talent. Now there is speculation that Real Madrid could be unloading Benzema, possibly just on a loan to another club.

Aston Villa has reportedly shown interest in taking Benzema in while he tries to find his form. Pairing him with Emile Heskey at the front could form a potentially potent forward line for Villa.

Liverpool Is Looking For Help in Its Midfield

Truthfully, Liverpool is looking for help everywhere and scratching its head. A team so talented shouldn't be in the bottom half of the league table and searching for answers outside of its own dressing room.

That is the case, however, for the Anfield club. Rumors claim that Liverpool is in pursuit of Bayern Munich's Mark Van Bommel and Real Madrid's Lassana Diarra.

Diarra is considered second best to Real Madrid's Sami Khedira and Kaka has returned to the fray from injury, crowding Real Madrid's midfield.

Arsenal May Sell Andrei Arshavin

Andrei Arshavin leads Arsenal in assists this season but the Gunners have hoped for more goals. The Russian's inconsistent play has led to speculation that he may be on his way out at Arsenal.

The club that is currently linked to Arshavin is Italian power, Juventus. Juventus is currently sixth in Serie A, only three points off the Champions League qualification pace.

Arshavin could provide a boost to the attack and prove crucial down the stretch. Juventus would be silly not to pursue this seriously.

Steven Pienaar Is Leaving Everton But Where To?

Everton's Steven Pienaar has been one of the hottest names in transfer talks since the beginning of the 2010-11 English Premiership campaign. Everton has announced that they've finally found the right suitor.

However, they haven't announced who that suitor is, only that a deal has been made. Earlier in the week it looked as though Tottenham was the club to beat. But talk of Chelsea and Italian force Internazionale have dominated of late.

Talks with Chelsea have broken down. Is Inter the new home for Pienaar or is there a mystery club in the mix?

Michael Johnson Wants Manchester City to Loan Him

Michael Johnson's promising career has been halted by injuries. The 22-year-old midfielder has only played one English Premiership game in two seasons.

In an effort to resurrect his career, Johnson has expressed strong desire to be loaned away from Manchester City. City is loaded with midfielders and isn't able to give Johnson the playing time necessary to get him back into form.

No clubs are reported to be expressing interest yet. This is likely to stay a short-term loan as all signs indicate Johnson still has a future with City.

West Ham Looking For Boost in Form Of Robbie Keane

West Ham United has been trying to avoid relegation by bringing in new players, including taking Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge in on loan. Manager Avram Grant has made it know that his next target is Tottenham striker Robbie Keane.

Keane, however, may be too expensive for West Ham. The 30-year-old garners £65,000 weekly. That would be on top of an anticipated £5 million transfer fee. Grant is hopeful he can still get the deal done.

Emmauel Adebayor's Disappointing Run at Manchester City May Be Over

Things haven't gone as expected since Emmanuel Adebayor signed with Manchester City in 2009. This season, the imposing striker only has one goal in eight English Premiership appearances.

But his talent is still visible and has clubs wondering if he's worth purchasing. Rumors have it that one club interested in Adebayor is Real Madrid. With Karim Benzema in poor form, Real Madrid may think that Adebayor can kick his own poor form in Spain.

If this move is completed, it could result in Benzema being moved himself.

Arsenal has been a pleasant surprise this season in the English Premiership, fighting valiantly for the championship. Rumors swirl that Arsenal is not only shopping for players, but also has a few on the market.

Aresenal manager Arsene Wenger says that is not the case. Wenger has stayed true to his weeks long claim that he is not interested in parting with any of the players currently on the roster. The team is still looking for some new players for its side.

Speculation is that West Ham United and Arsenal have spoken about a transfer of West Ham center-half Matthew Upson to the Gunners.

West Ham manager Avram Grant claims he hasn't received a call from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. Wenger has simply refused to comment on the reports.

Neither has given a deliberate denial of any doings, leaving it to be assumed that something could happen with Upson.

Blackpool's Charlie Adam Could Be Headed to Liverpool

Ever watch your favorite club get shredded by a player and think, "I really wish he was on our side?" Well, that feeling may be satisfied for Liverpool supporters. The club is reported to be interested in Blackpool's Charlie Adam.

The midfielder helped Blackpool pass Liverpool in the English Premiership table and earn its first double over Liverpool since the 1946-47 season with a 2-1 win Wednesday.

Now Liverpool is trying to sign Adam to get his talents working for it instead of against it.

If Blackpool does let Charlie Adam free for Liverpool, it will do so with a replacement in mind. That player was considered Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey.

However, recent reports are that Blackpool's attempts to receive Ramsey on loan have failed.

Where Blackpool plans to look next is unclear.

Is Pablo Mouche Headed to West Ham?

West Ham United has made a bid for Boca Juniors dynamo Pablo Mouche. The 23-year-old strike has earned comparisons to fellow Argentine Carlos Tevez.

It looks to be only a matter of time before Mouche gets his start in the English Premier League. But with who remains to be seen.

Don't count out Blackburn Rovers or Birmingham in the Mouche sweepstakes.
