WrestleMania 37 is barely in the rearview, but the wheels never stop turning in WWE.

As one cycle ends, another begins, and it's already time to start thinking about WrestleMania 38, which is set for April 3, 2022.

All we know so far is that date and the venue—AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas—but these past two years have shown that everything is subject to change, not just the card itself.

Still, what's stopping us from testing out our psychic powers and tossing out theories for what the lineup might be?

Obviously, this should all be taken with a grain of salt, and it should be noted that this article will focus on the biggest matches WWE may have in mind right now, rather than the undercard that won't be considered until weeks or days prior to the show.

Here are some educated guesses for the matches WWE will book for WrestleMania 38.

Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns vs. the Rock

It would be strange for The Rock to face Roman Reigns in Texas, rather than the two Florida events or WrestleMania 39 in Hollywood, but WWE has never fit comfortably with logic.

Reigns was successful in beating both Edge and Daniel Bryan to retain the Universal Championship at WrestleMania on Sunday. The more this happens and the longer it goes on, the more claim he'll have to call himself The Head of the Table.

The only person who can theoretically challenge him for the right to be The Tribal Chief is The Rock. It's the match everyone wants, would sell the whole pay-per-view alone and would be a great way to cap off what may be Reigns' near-two-year title run.

Better still, if the universal champion could win this match, he would cement himself as the guy in a way no one else ever has, which would be a monumental achievement.

WWE Championship Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Keith Lee

It was surprising that Bobby Lashley won the WWE Championship to begin with, but even more so when he retained over Drew McIntyre on Night 1 of WrestleMania 37.

WWE is pulling the copy-and-paste methodology it loves so much and having a rematch between these two at WrestleMania Backlash on May 16. While it doesn't stop the company from continuing to rinse and repeat this for months on end, that should be the final time they fight for a while.

The All Mighty should retain the title and carry it at least until SummerSlam to set up the biggest match in the making against Brock Lesnar.

Lashley has wanted to fight The Beast Incarnate for years, and it may now be a high-enough priority that Vince McMahon is willing to pull the trigger on it.

And considering his track record, we should assume any time The Beast fights for a title, he's going to win it. That means we're likely looking at another Lesnar reign with the WWE Championship from SummerSlam until WrestleMania 38.

In that case, rather than backtracking and redoing the McIntyre victory, someone like Keith Lee should be given the chance to step up to the top tier.

Lesnar and Lee looked like a dream match when they stood opposite each other in the men's Royal Rumble match last year, and this could be a major contest for next year's Show of Shows.

Raw Women's Championship Match: Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch

Triple H has regularly touted Rhea Ripley as the future of the women's division in WWE.

After she lost to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36 and floundered for an entire year, it seemed those claims might be somewhat exaggerated.

However, after defeating Asuka for the Raw Women's Championship on The Grandest Stage of Them All on Sunday, Ripley is back on course.

It appears The Nightmare is already set to feud with Flair after events on Monday's Raw, so it's not worth dragging that out an entire year.

However, Becky Lynch should be back in action when WrestleMania 38 comes around. The Man is far too popular to not be in the title picture, so this is the obvious go-to choice for Ripley's opponent next year.

SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair

On SmackDown, Bianca Belair could be another champion who holds the title for a full year.

The new SmackDown women's titleholder is a fantastic wrestler, so even if she isn't holding the belt, she's likely to be the top challenger trying to win it back.

By then, Belair vs. Sasha Banks will be played out, and Bayley should also be out of the picture. While anything can happen before WrestleMania 38, it's doubtful anyone will be prioritized for a spot on the card as much as Flair.

Belair vs. Flair is a dream match. It has to be done at some point, so why not do it on The Grandest Stage of Them All?

Intercontinental Championship: Sheamus vs. Cesaro

Sheamus has done practically everything he can do in his career. He's won the Royal Rumble, King of the Ring, Money in the Bank, Slammy Awards, both Raw and SmackDown tag titles, the United States Championship and had four world title reigns.

The one thing preventing The Celtic Warrior from becoming a grand slam champion is the intercontinental title.

Sheamus has previously stated this is his goal. Sooner or later, WWE is going to have to pull the trigger on it, as he's more than deserving of being given the chance.

Track this scenario: Apollo Crews loses the intercontinental belt to Cesaro down the line, and Sheamus or Cesaro change brands in the WWE draft. The former Bar teammates then clashing for the IC title at WrestleMania 38 would be a great story.

AJ Styles vs. Triple H

AJ Styles keeps pestering Triple H for a match at WrestleMania, and only scheduling conflicts have prevented it from happening.

On the media call for NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, The Game said he'd love to have that contest, but he didn't have the time to get in shape for WrestleMania 37, per WrestlingInc's Jason Ounpraseuth.

Perhaps with another year's notice, Triple H will be able to set aside time to prepare and this match can go down. Styles is more than worthy of a major marquee spot, and it would be one of the best matches Triple H could have as he winds down his in-ring career.

There won't be any Undertaker match anymore to build around, so this could fill that role.

Edge vs. Drew McIntyre or Seth Rollins

Edge included the names of Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins on his list of matches he wants in an interview with Brent Brookhouse of CBS Sports in February.

The Rated-R Superstar has scratched the itch of being in the main event of The Show of Shows with this year's run, so he should just be in a regular match built from a grudge feud next year.

And either McIntyre or Rollins could be suitable opponents for Edge in 2022.

There may be a slight advantage toward the Scot if he stays a babyface while Edge goes further down a darker path, but anything can happen over the next 12 months.

Miscellaneous Other Ideas

Here are some other ideas and matches that could be on the WrestleMania 38 card:

• A proper Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal to be restored to the kickoff show.
• A women's Battle Royal or a multi-women match such as this year's Tag Team Turmoil.
• Daniel Bryan to face someone currently in NXT, like Adam Cole or WALTER.
• Dominik and Rey Mysterio to face each other or fight together in the tag team title hunt.
• The Usos and The New Day to square off for tag team titles.
• "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to be the event host.

WWE likely won't be thinking about this card for months yet, but we can hope plans will start formulating well in advance, rather than rushing things as recent events have been.
