Blue-Grey All-American Bowl 2021: Kevin May's Late TD Lifts East to Win vs. West

Timothy Rapp

The East defeated the West at Monday's Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, 25-24, as Kevin May's five-yard scoring run with two minutes remaining proved to be the winning score.

Three-star quarterback Seth Smith added a six-yard touchdown pass to Tate Sauerwein and JaMichael McGoy galloped for a 92-yard touchdown run on the game's first possession for the winning East side. Michael Long also hit a 40-yard field goal.

Quarterback Kannon Williams (two-yard touchdown run), A.J. Skaggs (72-yard touchdown pass from Jake Trice) and running back Ethane Hyche (two-yard touchdown run) all scored for West. Brinson Sumner added a 49-yard field goal for the losing side.

Monday's contest was held at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium, one of three Blue-Grey All-American Bowls to be held this year. In December, the East defeated the West 36-17 led by a stout defensive performance from C.J. Taylor (eight tackles) and an excellent showing from Dayton commit Shane Hamm, who threw a touchdown pass and rushed for two more.

The final Blue-Grey showdown will take place on Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. ET.

The games serve as to "help prep prospects from all over the country receive national exposure and increase their chances to secure scholarships to a college, whether that be at the NCAA Division I level, Div. II or III, also NAIA or Junior College," per the event's website

Blue-Grey Football also hosts various All-American Combines around the country, with players who shine in those workouts given the opportunity to play in the yearly games.
