Jazz Guard Jordan Clarkson Fined $25K for Making Contact with an Official

Adam Wells

Jordan Clarkson's decision to shove an official during Thursday's game against the Phoenix Suns cost him $25,000.

The NBA announced Friday that the Utah Jazz guard had been fined for his actions.

The incident took place early in the second quarter when Clarkson dribbled the ball. The official was inadvertently in his path and the ball bounced off his foot before going out of bounds.

Clarkson's momentum took him into the official, but he followed it up by shoving the official.

The 28-year-old was assessed a technical foul as a result. He did finish the game, playing 19 minutes off the bench and scoring 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

Clarkson's $25,000 fine is standard for a first-time offender who makes contact with an official. Washington Wizards center Thomas Bryant received a $45,000 fine last month for a similar offense, but he also instigated a situation in which players on both teams had to hold him back from Blake Griffin after a hard foul.

The Suns defeated the Jazz 106-95 on Thursday night.
