UFC Legend Tito Ortiz Reportedly Running for Huntington Beach City Council

Joseph Zucker

UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz intends to run for City Council in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California, according to TMZ Sports.

TMZ noted that three council seats will be open for the November elections and that Ortiz submitted the necessary paperwork to get on the ballot.

Although an official party designation wasn't listed for Ortiz, he has been open about his political affiliations. He endorsed Donald Trump in May 2016 ahead of the presidential elections. He told TMZ Sports in November 2018 that he was hopeful of visiting the White House and that he had "been supporting Trump since day 1."

Trump congratulated Ortiz following his victory over Alberto Rodriguez at last December's Combate Americas event.

Given his lack of experience in the political sphere, Ortiz will almost certainly be a big underdog for a City Council seat.

Based on the last election, the 45-year-old might find himself in a crowded field of candidates, too. Fifteen people ran for four open seats in November 2018. Three council members ultimately held onto their positions as well.
