Both the San Diego Aviators (3-6) and Springfield Lasers (3-6) were in need of a win to move up the standings, sitting seventh and ninth, respectively.

The Vegas Rollers were a half-game behind the Orlando Storm for the fourth and final playoff seed. The Rollers could leapfrog the Rollers in Thursday's second match.

The night will be capped off by an encounter between the Washington Kastles and Orange County Breakers, two teams aiming to move into the top four.

Washington Kastles 25, Orange County Breakers 11

Talk about a blowout.

The Kastles smashed the Breakers on Thursday, 25-11, winning all five sets and two sets by a 5-1 margin. Bernarda Pera was fantastic, beating Jennifer Brady 5-1 and joining with Marcelo Arevalo to win mixed doubles 5-3.

She was named player of the match:

Venus Williams paired with Arina Rodionova to win women's doubles 5-4, while Tommy Paul beat Steve Johnson 5-2 in men's singles.

The duo of Arevalo and Nick Monroe teamed up to close out the match 5-1 in men's doubles.

Washington moved to 4-4 with the win, while Orange County's struggles continued, as they fell to 3-6 with the defeat.

Orlando Storm 22, Vegas Rollers 16

The Storm pulled off a clean win against the Rollers on Thursday, winning four of five sets en route to a 22-16 win.

Only the mixed doubles team of Mike Bryan and Monica Puig managed to steal a set from Orlando.

The Storm smashed 15 aces in the match, led by Ken Skupski with six, and won 78 percent of their first-serve points.

Tennys Sandgren opened the match with a 5-3 men's singles win over Sam Querrey before Jessica Pegula gave the Storm a 10-7 lead with her win over Ajla Tomljanovic. Bryan and Puig tied things up with a dominant showing, but the women's doubles team of Pegula and Darija Jurak dominated, beating Puig and Tomljanovic 5-1.

That left the Bryan brothers to close out the match, which they did by a 5-2 score.

Orlando moved to 5-4 on the season, while Vegas dropped to 4-6.

Springfield Lasers 22, San Diego Aviators 18

The Lasers jumped out to an early 10-5 lead after men's doubles and women's singles and held on for a four-point victory over the Aviators.

Catherine McNally and Hayley Carter sealed the deal in women's doubles. CoCo Vandeweghe and Nicole Melichar had three set points to push the match into extended play but couldn't find the incisive shot for the Aviators. A backhand volley from McNally down the center put San Diego away.

The Aviators' lone set victory came courtesy of Ryan Harrison in men's singles. He defeated Mitchell Krueger 5-2.

McNally and Robert Lindstedt ensured the Lasers remained in the driver's seat with a 5-4 win in mixed doubles.

Olga Govortsova put together the most dominant display. She won 16 of her 22 service points against Vandeweghe and McHale and forced four break-point opportunities. Govortsova converted one of the four en route to an easy 5-2 set.
