When the Cleveland Browns open training camp in July, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be ready to participate after having core muscle surgery during the offseason. 

Speaking to reporters on a Thursday conference call, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski called Beckham "free and clear" for training camp activities.   

The Browns announced in January that Beckham had surgery after playing through hip and groin injuries throughout the 2019 season. 

No official timetable was given for Beckham's recovery at that point, but there have been hints suggesting he has made significant progress.

He said in a YouTube video posted on May 4, "recovery's going well. ... I've been playing for 23 years, so for me, I'm trying to put it all back together in seven months."

In a Cam Newton workout video posted on June 13, Beckham was running routes and catching passes from the 2015 NFL MVP. 

Beckham's first year with the Browns in 2019 was a mixed bag. The three-time Pro Bowler did have more than 1,000 yards for the fifth time in six NFL seasons, but his 74 receptions and four touchdowns were his fewest in a season in which he played at least 12 games. 

Stefanski is taking over as head coach after spending last year as the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator. He will be tasked with getting Beckham and Baker Mayfield on the same page to help the Browns improve on last year's disappointing 6-10 record under Freddie Kitchens.
