Las Vegas Raiders rookie wide receiver Henry Ruggs III is "pretty much OK" after suffering a wound on his thigh while helping a friend move, per comments made by his father, Henry Ruggs Jr.

"He was trying to move a trailer or something—move furniture or something—and the trailer just kind of pinned him against a car or a wall or something," Ruggs told Wesley Sinor of AL.com.

"He's pretty much OK, I'm about to go out there and see him in a little bit. It was just like a little open wound on his leg, a little incision. Like something had stuck him right there on his thigh a little bit."

Ruggs also said his son has to "walk on crutches" and is "not putting as much pressure on it."

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on the accident earlier in the day.

"New Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs was involved in an off-the-field accident helping a friend move," Rapoport reported. "I'm told 'he's OK' and while he was apparently cut or received a puncture, the wound is not serious."

The Raiders issued a statement earlier Monday on the matter, per The Athletic's Vic Tafur.

"The Raiders are aware of a report regarding an off-field injury to Henry Ruggs III. Respecting Henry's right to medical privacy, the team will not be commenting on the report."

Tafur further clarified that the report was "an item on a SEC fansite message board" that he had been attempting to verify.

Las Vegas took the former Alabama star 12th overall in the 2020 NFL draft.

The 6'0", 190-pound Ruggs caught 40 passes for 746 yards and seven touchdowns for the Crimson Tide last year, amassing 18.7 yards per catch. He also rushed for 75 yards and another score.

Ruggs was an intriguing draft prospect coming out of Alabama, but he boosted his draft stock after running a 4.27-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine.

That helped Ruggs become the first wide receiver taken in the 2020 NFL draft, which saw 11 wideouts taken in the first 50 selections.

Ruggs figures to play an integral part in a Raiders offense that features a stout ground game led by fellow Alabama product Josh Jacobs, who rushed for 1,150 yards last year despite missing three games.

Quarterback Derek Carr has a litany of weapons at his disposal in the passing game with the addition of Ruggs, who joins breakout superstar tight end Darren Waller and fellow wideouts Hunter Renfrow and Tyrell Williams to form a potentially lethal passing attack.

Las Vegas opens the 2020 season at the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 13.
