Ex-Saints WR Ted Ginn Jr., Bears Agree to 1-Year Contract

Free-agent wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. has joined the Chicago Bears on a one-year contract, the team confirmed on Monday morning.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport first reported the deal on Thursday.

"Chicago has been searching for a speed WR, now they have one," Rapoport noted.

Ginn had played for the New Orleans Saints from 2017 through last season.

"I've still got a few more years left in me," the 35-year-old told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on April 15.

Ginn was selected ninth overall in the 2007 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins, where he remained through 2009. He also played for the San Francisco 49ers (2010-12), Arizona Cardinals (2014) and Carolina Panthers (2013, 2015-16) before landing in New Orleans.

Ginn's best statistical season came in 2015 with the Panthers, who went 15-1 in the regular season but lost to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. He recorded 44 catches for 739 yards and 10 touchdowns across 15 games (13 starts). He also eclipsed 700 yards receiving in 2008, 2016 and 2017.

Last season, he caught 30 passes for 421 yards and two touchdowns in 16 regular-season contests (nine starts).

With the Bears, Ginn will serve as a veteran presence in the receivers room alongside the likes of Allen Robinson II and Anthony Miller. Chicago also signed veteran All-Pro tight end Jimmy Graham to a two-year contract in March.

The Bears' passing attack ranked 25th last season with 205.7 yards per game.
