Wide receiver Tarik Black's time with the Michigan Wolverines is over.
On Tuesday, Black posted a picture of himself in a Texas Longhorns uniform with the caption "i just flipped the switch,, flip flip #HookEm" on his Instagram page. Anwar Richardson of Rivals noted the wide receiver verbally committed to join the Longhorns.
Black arrived at Michigan as a highly regarded 4-star prospect and the No. 15 wide receiver in the class of 2017, per 247Sports' composite rankings.
While he never lived up to expectations in the Big Ten program, injuries also set him back at the start of his career. He played just three games as a freshman and three games as a sophomore with a combined 184 receiving yards and one touchdown catch.
He suffered a broken left foot after a promising start to his freshman campaign and then a broken right foot prior to his sophomore season, although he bounced back some in a solid junior effort in 2019 with 25 catches for 323 yards and one touchdown.
Black took a backseat to playmakers such as Donovan Peoples-Jones, Ronnie Bell and Nico Collins with the Wolverines but could have the opportunity to provide important help at the position for the Longhorns.
Mike Roach of 247Sports noted Texas "suddenly lacks valuable experience" at wide receiver after Lil'Jordan Humphrey, as well as 2020 draftees Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay, left the program.
Texas didn't hesitate to air it out under head coach Tom Herman in recent years, as quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw for 3,292 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2018 and 3,663 yards and 32 touchdowns in 2019.
