The coronavirus pandemic has caused the International Boxing Hall of Fame to postpone the 2020 induction ceremony that had been scheduled for June 14.
Per ESPN's Dan Rafael, this year's group of Hall of Famers will be inducted alongside the 2021 class at next year's induction weekend from June 10-13.
"By combining the celebrations of the induction classes of 2020 and 2021, the Hall of Fame can honor inductees with all the bells and whistles that the Hall of Fame weekend is known for and provide each inductee with the recognition they each so richly deserve," International Boxing Hall of Fame executive director Edward Brophy told Rafael.
The International Boxing Hall of Fame temporarily closed beginning March 17 through at least the end of the month due to the pandemic.
A total of 13 people were voted into the Hall of Fame as part of the 2020 class.
Bernard Hopkins, "Sugar" Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Christy Martin and Lucia Rijker were elected in the modern boxer category. Promoters Lou DiBella, Kathy Duva and Dan Goossen, journalists Bernard Fernandez and Thomas Hauser, old-timers Frank Erne and Paddy Ryan and women's trailblazer Barbara Buttrick will join that group at the induction ceremony.
The 2021 International Boxing Hall of Fame class will be announced in December. Floyd Mayweather Jr., Wladimir Klitschko and Miguel Cotto are among the notable first-time eligible nominees.
