Maurice Harkless will reportedly finish out this season as a member of the New York Knicks.
Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, despite having some interest from playoff contenders, Harkless and the Knicks haven't had any buyout talks and he will finish out his contract with the team before becoming a free agent this summer.
The Knicks acquired Harkless on Feb. 6 as part of the three-team deal that sent Marcus Morris to the Los Angeles Clippers.
ESPN's Bobby Marks reported after the trade that there was a "good chance" Harkless got bought out by the Knicks at the end of February.
Buyout discussions for any member of the Knicks may have been difficult to navigate because of the ongoing front-office situation. Steve Mills left his position as team president on Feb. 4.
Former agent Leon Rose will take over the role, but Marc Stein of the New York Times reported he won't officially move into the role until March 1.
The deadline for players to be waived and still maintain playoff eligibility for a new team is March 1.
Harkless is in the final season of a four-year, $42 million deal he originally signed with the Portland Trail Blazers in July 2016. The 26-year-old is averaging 5.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game with a 39.1 three-point percentage this season.
