Jon Jones is ready to defend his UFC light heavyweight championship Saturday at UFC 247, but he already has his sights on an interesting opponent afterward. 

The 32-year-old said Monday on the Ariel Helwani Show he wants to fight Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title in his next bout.

"I feel like I could totally beat him, just based on his performances with DC [Daniel Cormier], our speed differences, my fight IQ, my versatility, my faith and confidence," Jones told Helwani (via ESPN.com). "I think I'm the guy to beat him, for sure. And I want to strike while I'm feeling hot."

There has been speculation that Miocic will face Daniel Cormier a third time in his next match after the duo split their first two bouts.

Cormier won the heavyweight title at UFC 226 with a first-round knockout, but Miocic returned the favor at UFC 241 a year later with a knockout in the fourth round to win back his belt.

Jones already defeated Cormier in 2017, although the result was overturned after he tested positive for a banned substance. 

He officially has a 25-1 career record in 27 MMA fights, with his only loss coming by disqualification. His consistency has helped him be ranked the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world by UFC.

It's also limited his options in his current division as he continues to defeat all competitors.

However, he's never competed at heavyweight and the step up in weight could cause problems if he were to take on an elite competitor like Miocic.

In the meantime, Jones still has to get by undefeated Dominick Reyes, who will challenge the champ for the light heavyweight title Saturday in Houston.
