Marlon Humphrey on Saying Ravens Choke in the Playoffs: 'I Stand by That'

Adam Wells

One day after their season-ending 28-12 loss to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Divisional Round, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey didn't regret saying his team choked.

Per ESPN's Jamison HensleyHumphrey explained why he stood by that comment he made immediately after the game.

"I stand by that," he said. "It actually was what I was thinking on the sideline. It's crazy. You are what you show on paper, and you are what you show on the field. That's what we've shown on the field."

Speaking to reporters on Saturday night, Humphrey said Baltimore's "identity right now is to get to the playoffs and choke."

The Titans pulled off the upset by forcing three turnovers from presumptive NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. Running back Derrick Henry ran for 195 yards on 30 carries and had a touchdown pass to Corey Davis in the third quarter.

This marks the second straight season in which the Ravens lost their first playoff game after winning the AFC North. The Los Angeles Chargers knocked them off 23-17 in the Wild Card Round last year.

Baltimore has entered the playoffs on hot streaks in each of those postseason defeats. The 2018 squad ended the regular season with six wins in its last seven games, including three straight from Weeks 15-17. This year's team had the best record in the NFL at 14-2 thanks to 12 straight wins after a 2-2 start.

Humphrey, a first-round pick by the Ravens in 2017, has been part of both losses. Baltimore's last postseason win came on Jan. 3, 2015, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
