LSU LB Patrick Queen Says Tigers 'Gonna Dominate' Oklahoma in 2019 CFP Semifinal

Joseph Zucker

LSU linebacker Patrick Queen provided the proverbial bulletin board material ahead of Saturday's College Football Playoff semifinal against Oklahoma.

While praising Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Oklahoma offense as a whole, Queen said Thursday the Tigers "are gonna dominate" their opponents in the Peach Bowl, per OUInsider.com's Brandon Drumm:

Queen's comments are largely the boilerplate trash talk you hear in the buildup to big games.

Coaches are keen to use whatever slights they can in order to motivate their players, though. Alabama head coach Nick Saban purportedly manufactured quotes from the "national media" in order to get his squad ready for the 2016 Peach Bowl against Washington.

Oklahoma could make Queen regret his trash talk, though.

Defense is LSU's biggest weakness despite having a pair of defensive backs, Grant Delpit and Derek Stingley Jr., earning consensus All-American honors.

The Tigers entered bowl season sitting 19th in SP+ defense rating, per ESPN.com, which is second-worst among the four playoff teams (Oklahoma, 36th). The SEC champions are allowing 21.2 points and 341.3 yards per game. Alabama and Texas both went for 500-plus yards against LSU, while Florida had 457 yards in a losing effort in October.

Given how good Oklahoma's offense is, the Peach Bowl could turn into a track meet like the Tigers' 46-41 win over the Crimson Tide on Nov. 9.

Queen's idea that LSU will "dominate" Oklahoma might at least be a bit of a stretch.
