WWE NXT UK Superstar Piper Niven announced Friday on social media that she is suffering from Bell's palsy:
According to the Mayo Clinic, Bell's palsy is a condition that weakens the facial muscles temporarily and causes half of one's face to appear to be drooping.
WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW announcer Jim Ross is another notable sufferer of Bell's palsy in the wrestling industry.
The 28-year-old Niven is a native of Scotland and has officially been under a WWE contract since March, when she debuted on NXT UK. Prior to that, Niven appeared in the first Mae Young Classic in 2017 and reached the quarterfinals.
Niven first made a name for herself wrestling throughout Europe and in Japan from 2009-2019 under the alias Viper.
Since joining NXT UK, Niven has mixed it up with many of the top women on the show, including Rhea Ripley, Jinny and Jazzy Gabert.
At NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II in Blackpool, England, on Jan. 12, Niven is currently scheduled to challenge Toni Storm and NXT UK women's champion Kay Lee Ray in a Triple Threat match.
