Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal remains undecided as to whether he will sign the three-year, $111 million extension that the team offered him last month, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Jackson noted the Miami Heat are expected to "receive serious consideration" should Beal decline the extension and become a free agent in 2021. 

A source told Jackson that the two-time All-Star is considering signing the extension because he is "loyal by nature" and appreciates how the organization has communicated with him this offseason.

Beal's agent, Mark Bartelstein, told Jackson on Wednesday that there is "nothing new" with regard to Beal's decision.

Beal is coming off his finest season to date, during which he set career highs in scoring (25.6 points per game), assists (5.5) and rebounding (5.0). Fellow All-Star guard John Wall was limited to only 32 games due to heel and Achilles injuries.

With two years and $55.8 million remaining on his current deal, Beal has plenty of time to decide whether he wants to remain in the nation's capital long term. Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski last month that the team was committed to Beal and would offer him the max extension "at the very first moment allowed":

"He's got two years left on his deal, and he's from Missouri and we are going to have to show him. We need to show him that we are about building this the right way, that we aren't going to have character-deficient guys around him. We are going to surround him with guys he wants to play with. He saw that right away in free agency with us bringing back Thomas Bryant."

The Wizards have made the postseason in four of Beal's seven seasons. They have yet to make it beyond the Eastern Conference semifinals during his tenure in Washington, though.

Jackson reported the Wizards will not consider trading Beal unless he makes it known that he wants to be elsewhere, which he has not done to this point. Miami reportedly "loves" the former Florida Gators star and would like to acquire him before or during the summer of 2021.
