Lawrence (+240) and Tagovailoa (+260) are the clear frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy heading into the season, per OddsChecker. No other player has odds better than +1000 (10-1).

The Clemson superstar told Matt Connolly of The State he hung out with his Bama counterpart at the Manning Passing Academy during the offseason:

"We're in similar situations and it's always good and beneficial to talk to guys that are in similar situations and see how they do things and how their life is. We got to talk and it was just cool talking to him. We're going through the same things. And just hearing how he deals with it and some of the cool stuff that he's been able to do, speaking at different things. And kind of how he stays level-headed with all that stuff was really cool."

The Tigers and Tide, who've faced off for the national championship three times in the five years of the current College Football Playoff structure, could be on a collision course once again.

Clemson, college football's defending champion, was No. 1, and Alabama was No. 2 in the AP preseason poll released Monday.
