Quintez Cephus, a former wide receiver at the University of Wisconsin, was found not guilty on sexual assault charges Friday. 

Per the Associated Press, Cephus was acquitted of second- and third-degree sexual assault by a jury after two women said he sexually assaulted them at his apartment in 2018. 

Cephus was suspended from Wisconsin's football team in Aug. 2018 after charges were filed against him. He also announced his decision to take a leave of absence from school:

Per Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Madison police were sent to a local hospital on Apr. 22, 2018 to meet with a woman who was sent to the emergency room:

"Officers obtained statements and gathered forensic evidence from the woman who said she was the victim of a sexual assault.

"Detectives were next assigned to the case. The woman provided the name and address of the person she said assaulted her. She said the incident took place inside the man's apartment prior to her arrival at the hospital."

Per the AP, the women testified that they were too drunk to have sex. Cephus said that he met the women the same day they came to his apartment: "He said that at a bar that night, that woman introduced him to her friend, 'and for the rest of the 20 to 30 minutes [at the bar] she was attached to me.' He said he didn't see the two women drink much."

Cephus also admitted to having his roommate and teammate, Danny Davis, take a picture of him having sex with the two women and that he lied to police about who took the photo because he was trying to protect Davis.

Cephus played 16 games over two seasons at Wisconsin from 2016-17.
