Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson was diagnosed with a torn ACL after he left Thursday's Game 6 loss to the Toronto Raptors with a left knee injury.

Thompson's agent, Greg Lawrence, confirmed the news to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, and this was later confirmed by the Warriors.

Thompson went down on a third-quarter dunk attempt when he was fouled by Danny Green. He remained in the game to shoot two free throws before exiting.

Thompson left the arena on crutches after the Warriors formally ruled him out for the remainder of the contest:

Head coach Steve Kerr later revealed Thompson told him he planned to return to the floor:

Thompson maintained his typical level of durability during the regular season, appearing in 78 games and averaging 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

The five-time All-Star missed the first playoff game of his NBA career, though, when he strained his hamstring in Game 2 of the 2019 NBA Finals

Thompson's injury came one game after the Warriors lost Kevin Durant to a ruptured Achilles tendon in his first appearance since suffering a calf injury versus the Houston Rockets in the second round.
