The New Orleans Pelicans "are not high on" New York Knicks forward Kevin Knox, according to the New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy. 

Sources told Bondy the Knicks are "still keen on" making a run at Pelicans star Anthony Davis via trade.

This comes after Marc Berman of the New York Post reported on May 10 that the Pelicans had interest in both Knox and 2018 second-round pick Mitchell Robinson.

Knox was the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft. He averaged 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 75 appearances as a rookie this past season, shooting just 37.0 percent from the floor and 34.3 percent from three-point range.

The 6'9", 215-pound forward showed signs of improvement during his first year, shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from beyond the arc in March.

Still just 19 years old, there's plenty of time for him to develop. But New Orleans may not be willing to take a chance on him.

If the Pelicans opt not to pursue a package involving Knox, the Knicks have other assets to work with. They not only own the third overall pick in this year's draft, but they also added a pair of future first-rounders from the Dallas Mavericks in the Kristaps Porzingis trade prior to the deadline earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Mitchell could be among the players offered in addition to picks.

Davis publicly requested a trade back in January as he looks to move on from New Orleans after seven seasons with the franchise. The Pelicans opted not to move him at the deadline in February, but given the six-time All-Star can be a free agent after the 2019-20 campaign, they may be motivated to move him this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

Davis revealed in February that he would welcome the opportunity to play for the Knicks, whom he called a "great franchise." ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski previously reported New York is one of a handful of teams Davis would consider signing a long-term deal with.

After clearing room for two max contracts with the Porzingis trade, the Knicks are expected to make a run at superstars in free agency this summer, such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Acquiring Davis would make it tough to sign both Durant and Irving, but a blockbuster deal like that could help persuade a top-tier star to sign with the team.
