This just in: Tacko Fall is really, really, really tall.
The UCF product measured in at 7'7" with shoes and posted an 8'2¼" wingspan and 10'2½" standing reach Wednesday at the NBA Draft Combine.
Fall is the tallest player and has the longest wingspan and standing reach of any player listed in the NBA.com combine database, which goes back to 2000-01. Jonathan Givony of ESPN noted that Fall's record-setting anthropomorphic numbers stretch back even farther:
Manute Bol and Gheorghe Muresan, both measuring at 7'7", are the tallest players in NBA history. If drafted, Fall would be the ninth player in NBA history who has measured at least 7'5".
Givony does not have Fall in his top 100 rankings for the 2019 class.
However, it's possible that NBA teams are intrigued enough by his height to select him in the second round. Fall averaged 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game during his senior season at UCF and had a coming-out party in the Knights' second-round loss to Duke in the NCAA tournament. UCF outscored Duke when Fall was on the floor, but he fouled out in 25 minutes after posting 15 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
NBA teams understandably should be wary of Fall due to his foul issues and lack of polish. His job at UCF was essentially to be tall and dunk the basketball, which he did at an efficient rate. He also fouled too much on the defensive end, so any team that takes a look at him will have to assume he won't play a ton of minutes.
That said, you can't teach 7'7".
