Kyler Murray Rumors: QB Visiting with Cardinals Ahead of 2019 NFL Draft

Quarterback Kyler Murray will reportedly meet with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday just two weeks ahead of the 2019 NFL draft.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Murray will be accompanied by his agent, who also represents Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

Arizona owns the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and it has been heavily linked to Murray despite selecting quarterback Josh Rosen with the 10th pick in last year's draft.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported last month Murray and the Cardinals met at Oklahoma one week after the team did not send any representatives to his pro day.

Kingsbury has long admired and coveted Murray, who carved up Texas Tech for 360 yards and three touchdowns through the air and 100 yards and one score on the ground last season while Kingsbury was the Red Raiders' head coach.

While still serving as Texas Tech's head coach in October, Kingsbury said in an interview that he would take Murray if he had the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft:

That became a reality when Arizona hired Kingsbury after firing Steve Wilks on the heels of a 3-13 season in 2018.

Murray won the Heisman Trophy in 2018 thanks to one of the best statistical quarterback seasons in college football history. The Allen, Texas, native completed 69.0 percent of his passes for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions while rushing for 1,001 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He also led Oklahoma to the Big 12 title and a berth in the College Football Playoff.

After Rosen went 10th overall to Arizona last season out of UCLA, he appeared in 14 games and made 13 starts as a rookie. Rosen went 3-10 and finished with 2,278 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on 55.2 percent passing.

Rosen's name has come up often in the rumor mill lately with Washington Redskins, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots all reportedly emerging as potential suitors.

In his latest mock draft, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller predicted Arizona will take Murray first overall.

If the Cardinals decide against taking Murray and opt to stick with Rosen instead, Ohio State pass-rusher Nick Bosa and Kentucky pass-rusher Josh Allen are arguably the top options with the No. 1 selection.
