Mexico remains undefeated under Tata Martino with a 4-2 win over Paraguay in Tuesday's international friendly.
After the team earned a 3-1 win over Chile in the new manager's debut Friday, the squad kept it going at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Jonathan dos Santos was impressive with a goal and an assist, while Javier Hernandez and Luis Montes each scored to lead El Tri to the win over Paraguay.
Mexico was aggressive from the opening kick, and it led to a lot of success in the first 30 minutes of the match as the team built a 3-0 lead.
The first two goals came on mistakes from the Paraguay defense, one on an own goal and the other with a header right to dos Santos.
With that said, Mexico forced those errors with aggressive play that caused the opponent to make quick decisions.
Dos Santos also had an impressive finish for the opening score in the sixth minute.
A short time later, dos Santos set up Chicharito with an excellent through ball that became the third goal of the match:
As well as the attack was playing, the midfield was even better controlling the ball and getting it back to the goal scorers up front.
Edson Alvarez was especially impressive in the middle of the pitch:
Martino spoke Monday about Alvarez potentially making a move to Europe soon.
"He's got World Cup experience, he's a regular starter in an institution as big as Club America and he's a player that gives you options in central midfield or at center-back," the manager said, per Tom Marshall of ESPN.com. "From my point of view, he's ready now."
Unfortunately, the defense got sloppy in the second half as Paraguay stormed back with a pair of goals:
A final goal by Montes in stoppage time helped seal the win, although there will now be question marks about the defense going forward.
Still, Mexico was the better squad for the majority of the night, controlling 60 percent of possession while getting nearly twice as many shots off (11-6). The question is if it can remain consistent for 90 minutes in every match going forward.
What's Next?
Mexico will regroup for more international friendlies in June against Venezuela and Ecuador. Paraguay will try to prepare for the Copa America in June.
