MMA fighter Josh Copeland was arrested Feb. 2 and charged with second-degree assault, obstruction and child abuse after allegedly assaulting his wife in front of their child.
TMZ Sports reported Copeland's wife had "an obvious bruise on her left eye, a cut and was bleeding. There was blood down the front of her face and neck." Police responded to a call about an altercation at the home, which Copeland's wife said began as verbal before turning violent.
She said Copeland shoved her before she shoved him back and that she after slapped Copeland in the face, which led to him punching her, throwing her on a bed and taking her phone so she could not call the police.
Copeland said he did not remember punching his wife.
The 36-year-old previously fought in UFC and had most recently been fighting in PFL, posting a 18-6-1 career record. He is set for a court date next week to face the charges.
