The Los Angeles Lakers made a move before Thursday's trade deadline, acquiring Mike Muscala from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Michael Beasley and Ivaca Zubac, the Clippers announced.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the deal.

Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes added the Clippers' "initial plan" was to waive Beasley after the trade became official.

Muscala was already traded this week when he was included as part of the package Los Angeles received from the Philadelphia 76ers for Tobias Harris.

Per Wojnarowski, the Lakers opened up a roster spot with this deal that could lead them to sign a player on the buyout market.

One player being considered by the Lakers will be Carmelo Anthony, per Wojnarowski

Zubac emerged as a solid role player for the Lakers this season. The 21-year-old is averaging a career-high 8.5 points and 4.9 rebounds in 2018-19. He's eligible for a $1.93 million qualifying offer this offseason.

Muscala gives the Lakers some necessary shooting help. He's made 36.5 percent of three-point attempts in his career. The Lakers rank 29th in the NBA with a 33.4 three-point percentage this season.
