After a week of widespread movement, a stasis set in atop the Associated Press Top 25.

Tennessee remained the nation's No. 1 team for a second straight week and was followed by Duke. Virginia, Gonzaga, Michigan and Michigan State rounded out an unchanged Top Six.

No. 6 Michigan State was the highest-ranked team to lose over the last week but did not move back thanks to victories over Maryland and Iowa. The Spartans concluded their tough week in Big Ten play with a 73-63 loss at Purdue, which soared into the Top 25 at No. 17.

The Boilermakers led 37-19 at halftime and held off a determined Michigan State team that got the game within four points late in the second half.

"They kind of get down six or 20 [in road games] and they have you right where they want you," Purdue coach Matt Painter told the AP. "You're nervous the whole damn time. I was nervous till 30 seconds [left]."

Purdue has reeled off five straight wins since a 9-6 start and should get to eight straight before a Feb. 12 trip to Maryland.

The Terrapins were the biggest losers among teams remaining in the Top 25, dropping eight spots to No. 21 after losses to Michigan State and Illinois. The latter loss was particularly shocking, given the fact the Illini were 5-14 and had lost seven of their eight conference games.

"We were cruising a little bit and feeling good about ourselves," Maryland coach Mark Turgeon told the AP. "We just weren't very good when we needed to be good, and they were. They were terrific when they needed to be."

No. 18 Buffalo fell four spots following a 77-75 loss at Northern Illinois and a win at Kent State. No other team still in the Top 25 dropped more than two spots.

Auburn, Iowa and Ole Miss were each sent packing. Bruce Pearl's Tigers have lost three straight and look closer to a bubble team than the high-seed contender they were earlier this season. Iowa lost to Michigan State and Minnesota, while Ole Miss couldn't get past Alabama or Iowa State.

Purdue, Wisconsin and Florida State moved into the rankings.
