Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre shot down any notion that he might be the next head coach of the Green Bay Packers during a recent interview with TMZ Sports.

He did, however, make a few suggestions for who should be Mike McCarthy's successor, including Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson.

"I don't know if they could get him from Philly or if he would even consider that," Favre said of Pederson. "But [he's] another young guy who is very creative and has proved that he can win the big one."

Favre's link to Pederson dates back to the two being quarterbacks on the Green Bay Packers together and forming a friendship that has remained after their playing careers. Pederson even asked Favre to address the Eagles ahead of the Super Bowl last season.

While it seems unlikely that Pederson would depart Philadelphia just one season removed from winning a title with the team—and with a young and talented quarterback of his own in Carson Wentz—Favre also suggested other potential McCarthy replacements, including former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. 

Favre noted that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers knows Bevell "well" and described him as a "young, energetic, great coach." 

He also floated the name of current Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns (2009-10), Miami Dolphins (2011), Kansas City Chiefs (2012) and Alabama Crimson Tide (2017).

"Very young, energetic, creative mind," Favre said of Daboll. 

Favre stressed that the next Packers head coach should be someone who helps Rodgers thrive.

"What's most important—regardless of who the coach is—they've got to make sure the offense is still geared around Aaron Rodgers," Favre said. "Now that sounds stupid of me to say, that they wouldn't do that, but it happens. So you don't want to take the ball out of his hands. In fact, you want to let him flourish."
