Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green reportedly "challenged" teammate Kevin Durant about Durant's future this summer during their on-court argument in Monday night's 121-116 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium. 

Charania added Green and Durant's confrontation is a "simmering issue" among Warriors players on Tuesday.

With the score tied at 106 in the final seconds of regulation, Green drove the ball up the court and lost possession before the Warriors could get a shot up. In the team's subsequent huddle, Green and Durant could be seen having an argument on the bench.

DeMarcus Cousins escorted Green out of the huddle, while Andre Iguodala spoke with Durant.

ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears reported things didn't end there, though. The matter "carried into" Golden State's locker room after the game.

"Teammates argued with Green over his choice in the final moments to keep the ball instead of passing to Durant for a try at a game-winning shot, sources said," according to Wojnarowski and Spears. "Meanwhile, Green was forceful in defending himself, which helped to escalate the volume in the room, sources said."

Durant re-signed with the Warriors in the offseason, though he can opt out of the deal and hit free agency once again in the summer. Wojnarowski and Spears wrote Durant's ability to test the free-agent market "heightens the sensitivity of the turmoil" between him and Green.

The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II posited the discussion about the story may be much ado about nothing.

Still, The Ringer's Haley O'Shaughnessy explained how Durant's free agency is one of the more dynamic storylines and a rare source of possible drama surrounding the Warriors.

Losing Durant wouldn't necessarily mean the end of Golden State's dynasty, but it would level the playing field a little more with the rest of the NBA. The nine-time All-Star was basically the difference in each of the last two Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers had nothing to counteract Durant's scoring and he collected a pair of Finals MVP Awards as a result.

Even in the heat of the moment, having Green call Durant out will do the Warriors few favors.
