Tyron Woodley: Floyd Mayweather Said Khabib Fight '70 Percent Likely'

Adam Wells

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley says a matchup between Floyd Mayweather and Khabib Nurmagomedov seems more likely to happen than not.

Appearing on TMZ Sports' The Hollywood Beatdown, Woodley said Mayweather told him there is "a 70 percent chance" a fight with Nurmagomedov happens.

Sitting with Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, Nurmagomedov threw down the initial challenge to Mayweather on Oct. 14 in a video posted to Instagram

"Hey, let's go Floyd," Nurmagomedov said. "We have to fight now. ... Two guys that never lose. Let's go. Why not?"

Mayweather issued a response through his own Instagram with a caption, "CBS, Showtime and MGM Grand get the checkbook out!"

One person not listening to the chatter between Mayweather and Nurmagomedov is UFC president Dana White.

"Don't pay attention to it," White told ESPN.com's Brett Okamoto. "First of all, the Mayweather team has not approached us at all. Khabib is under contract with the UFC; we haven't talked to anybody from the Mayweather team. Floyd is very good at getting his name back out there when he's ready to."

UFC did work with Mayweather and his camp to set up last year's boxing match with Conor McGregor. That show was the second-biggest pay-per-view in history with 4.3 million buys.

Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor at UFC 229 on Oct. 6 to retain the UFC lightweight championship.
