Liverpool's James Milner Reportedly Set for Month out with Hamstring Injury

Christopher Simpson

James Milner could reportedly be out until November after he suffered a hamstring injury in Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail's Dominic King, while the injury is "not a serious issue, the severity of the tear is sufficient enough" to keep him out of action for at least the remainder of October.

The Reds play Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City either side of a UEFA Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade this month before travelling to Arsenal on November 3.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be thankful for the international break, which has reduced the number of fixtures he might otherwise have missed.

The Reds should have the depth to secure the results they want against Huddersfield, Cardiff and Red Star without Milner in the side. However, it will be a blow if he has not recovered in time to play Arsenal.

The 32-year-old is a highly versatile operator—having started his career as a winger he transitioned into central midfield and has also provided cover at left-back—and it's difficult to find a harder working player outside of Chelsea star N'Golo Kante.

He's also capable of making incisive contributions to the team in the final third, having produced 17 goals and 31 assists during his time at the club.

ESPN FC's Liam Twomey hailed his work ethic and non-stop energy:

Klopp is also a big fan of Milner, per Goal's Neil Jones:

He's often been an unsung hero throughout his career, but Milner is a key player for Liverpool and has been receiving the plaudits he deserves of late.

Though he may not be one of the team's biggest stars like Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane, Arsenal will be pleased if he's not on the teamsheet come November 3.
