Floyd Mayweather Planning Fight in Tokyo Before Taking on Manny Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather's comeback isn't only going to include a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

TMZ Sports reported Mayweather is planning a tune-up fight ahead of his meeting with Pacquiao at an event in Tokyo later this year. He would then fight Pacquiao in 2019.

The report says Mayweather is considering MMA fighters and kickboxers, along with boxers. Mayweather's last fight came in an August 2017 knockout of Conor McGregor.

"Before the Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch, I will be back in Tokyo for a huge boxing event. Stay tuned," Mayweather said.

Mayweather, 41, retired following the McGregor fight with a 50-0 record and said he had no plans of returning to boxing. His bout with McGregor was the second-highest grossing boxing match in history, behind only Mayweather's first Pacquiao fight.

Mayweather confronted Pacquiao in a club earlier this month, calling him out for a December matchup. Pacquiao responded by telling Mayweather "I have the belt."

"I'm taking it from you. I'm going to take it from you like I did before," Mayweather said

Pacquiao, 39, defeated Lucas Matthysse via TKO in July. He has won three of his four fights since losing to Mayweather in 2015, and his only defeat was a controversial one to Jeff Horn.
