Lita is the most recent name added to the Evolution all-women's pay-per-view on Oct. 28 in Uniondale, New York.
WWE announced Monday that Lita will wrestle Mickie James in a singles match. It's a fitting matchup since James defeated Lita at Survivor Series 2006 in what was effectively Lita's retirement match.
Lita returned to WWE for Raw 1000 in 2012, defeating Heath Slater in a squash match. She also competed in the first-ever all-women's Royal Rumble match, eliminating Mandy Rose and Tamina before Becky Lynch sent her over the top rope.
Based on how well Lita performed, it felt like a matter of time before she was afforded a more proper comeback.
WWE has already confirmed Trish Stratus will take on Alexa Bliss, while Brie and Nikki Bella are bound to be involved in one way or another after re-entering the fold on WWE programming recently.
First and foremost, Evolution should showcase the women who are competing full-time on Raw and SmackDown Live. Beyond that, the event should also highlight the former stars who helped pave the way for Lynch, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Carmella and so many others.
Lita was unquestionably ahead of her time, and older WWE fans will start feeling nostalgic when she steps into the ring against James.
