Wanderlei Silva Announces 4th Fight vs. Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson in Bellator

Wanderlei Silva will fight Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in a Bellator card Sept. 29, the Brazilian announced Wednesday on Instagram.

"Like people say, it's very hard for a good professional to retire," Silva said (via MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz). "I just got a call from Bellator inviting to be part of the Sept. 29 [card] against Quinton Jackson in the main event in California. It's our fourth bout, I won two of the first three, so it's 2-1 for me."

MMA Fighting's Luke Thomas reported Bellator has scheduled a press conference for June 26, at which point the company will announce a "monumental can't-miss event." Both Silva and Jackson will be at the press conference, so their fight will presumably be confirmed next week.

As Silva noted, this will be the fourth time they oppose one another. Silva prevailed in their first meeting in November 2003 for Pride FC and won the rematch in October 2004. Jackson won their last fight, which took place on the UFC 92 card in December 2008. All three fights ended by knockout or TKO.

By the time he steps back inside the cage in September, Silva will have gone more than a year without a fight. He lost to Chael Sonnen by unanimous decision at Bellator 180 in June 2017 in his debut with the company.

This will be Jackson's seventh fight in Bellator, having posted a 4-2 record so far. His last two bouts ended in unanimous-decision defeats to Muhammed Lawal and Sonnen, respectively.
