Luke Maye is coming back to the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Maye announced on his Instagram page Thursday he won't enter the NBA draft, although he pointed to the "great experience" he had before making his decision.

"I have had a great experience learning from the NBA process and growing as a basketball player during the past couple weeks. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches and teammates for all of their support. Through this process, I have decided that I am going to [come back] to school to improve as a player and finish my college career."

He previously declared for the draft but elected not to hire an agent.

Maye turned in by far his best individual season for the Tar Heels in 2017-18 as a junior, averaging 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game behind 43.1 percent shooting from three.

The 6'7" forward wasn't a factor during his first two years at North Carolina, averaging just 1.2 points as a freshman and 5.5 points as a sophomore.

Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman did not list Maye among his top 30 prospects on his most recent big board following the NBA Scouting Combine in Chicago, suggesting the first round may have been a long shot.

Maye, a Wooden Award finalist last season, will now have an opportunity to bolster his stock on a team that won it all in 2017.
