The Phoenix Suns won the NBA draft lottery and will pick first overall for the first time in the team's 50-year history.

Tuesday night's favorable bounce of the pingpong balls was a long time coming for the Suns, who lost the coin toss for the No. 1 pick back in 1969 to the Milwaukee Bucks.

That was the year Milwaukee selected Lew Alcindor, one of the greatest first picks in league history. Phoenix selected Neal Walk, who flamed out after a mediocre eight-year career.

Now, the Suns are on the clock, and many analysts predict they'll select Deandre Ayton, while others feel that the former Arizona Wildcat being the first player to come off the board is not exactly certain.

TNT's David Aldridge suggested newly hired head coach Igor Kokoskov might pick up Luka Doncic, a player he's coached in the past in Slovenia.

Either way, both players are capable of making an immediate impact.

Whether Phoenix picks Ayton or Doncic first, both will be gone by the time the Atlanta Hawks pick No. 3.

Sacramento Kings Add Impact Player at No. 2

Before Tuesday night, most mock drafts had the Sacramento Kings selecting at No. 7, so they came out on top as one of the biggest winners in the draft lottery for their highest pick since 1989.

Now picking at No. 2, they'll get the chance to add a player who can contribute right away, and with a young core that features De'Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Willie Cauley-Stein, they have a chance to really look exciting next season.

Sactown will basically select whoever the Suns pass up on. If Phoenix picks Ayton, they'll take Doncic, a player who would make a great pairing with the explosive Fox.

At only 19 years old, Doncic is an elite ballhandler and playmaker who has already won at a high level.

With his acute basketball IQ, he and Fox would make for an electric backcourt.

If the Suns take Doncic, the Kings will take Ayton, a big man with elite athleticism, physicality and offensive skills that jump off the page. The jury is still out on his defensive abilities, but that's an area that can be improved upon.

Ayton's potential in the pick-and-roll with Fox could be an immediate plus for Sacramento, who will look to return to the days when they had one of the best big men in the league.

Grizzlies Have to Settle for No. 4

The lottery was a slight let down for the Memphis Grizzlies, who fell from No. 2 to No. 4 on the board.

Two spots isn't horrible, but it does mean they'll lose out on picking one of the two players most analysts believe are the best in this draft class.

Nevertheless, Memphis can still walk away with a good-to-potentially-great player in Marvin Bagley III.

The Hawks moved up a spot, but they will likely stick with need and select Jaren Jackson Jr. to pair alongside John Collins.

Bagley's no Ayton or Doncic, but he's still an intriguing prospect who will be able to get buckets and rebounds at the next level.

He doesn't have a reliable outside shot, but with some work, he could develop one and become a stretch four.

He'll also have to work on his defense, but his energy and hustle will definitely fit in well with the gritty Grizzlies.

He'll need some time to gear up for the next level, but once he does, he'll be a double-double machine on a nightly basis.
