Liverpool advancing to the UEFA Champions League final on Wednesday with a 7-6 aggregate win over AS Roma was good news for more than just the club's fans.
According to Darren Rovell of ESPN.com, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James bought a 2 percent stake in Liverpool in 2011 for approximately $6.5 million. Rovell cited a sports investment banker who said Liverpool could currently be sold for $1.6 billion, and that was a conservative estimate.
Using that estimate, James' stake would be worth $32 million just seven years after he purchased it for far less.
Liverpool is even more valuable after advancing to the UEFA Champions League final since the accomplishment netted an award of more than $100 million for the club.
