Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo gave free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant his stamp of approval on Tuesday.

Speaking at Gleneagles Country Club following his qualifying round for the U.S. Open golf tournament, Romo said his former No. 1 target should have plenty of interest, according to ESPN.com's Todd Archer:

"There's a ton of teams he could help. One thing, I don't know how many teams will do their homework on it, but Dez is a good teammate and I think sometimes that might get lost in the way that the emotional aspect of things. If I was talking to any of the GMs or coaches, I would tell them he's not going to hurt the locker room in any possible way. He's going to come out and he'll be a great teammate when he gets there. I think he'll have a couple options here soon."

The Cowboys released Bryant, who was Romo's teammate from 2010 through 2016, on April 13 after eight seasons with the organization.

Bryant's most productive NFL seasons from 2012 through 2014 came with Romo at the helm.

In each of those campaigns, the 2010 first-round pick out of Oklahoma State registered at least 1,200 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Over the past three seasons, however, Bryant has not racked up more than 838 yards or eight touchdowns in a single year.

Bryant struggled when Romo was injured for much of 2015, and the receiver never seemed to click with Romo's replacement, Dak Prescott, once he became Dallas' starting quarterback.

Although Bryant was technically Prescott's No. 1 target and is the all-time Cowboys leader in touchdown catches with 73, the team still decided to part ways with him.

Dallas will move forward with a suspect receiving corps that contains Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley, Allen Hurns, Deonte Thompson and rookie third-round pick Michael Gallup.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Bryant turned down a multiyear contract offer from the Baltimore Ravens recently.

Bryant reportedly favors a one-year deal in order to land a bigger contract the following offseason should he turn in a strong performance in 2018.

Following the 2018 NFL draft, Bryant's market may pick up again since he is undoubtedly the most talented and accomplished wideout still available.
