Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe believes Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante would be an ideal signing for the club.
The French champions spent big last summer to land Neymar and Mbappe, and all eyes will be on the Parc des Princes again in the coming window to see if they splash the cash.
When asked by beIN Sports (h/t Ian Holyman of ESPN FC) which player he'd like to see join him at PSG for next season, Mbappe named his France team-mate as an ideal acquisition.
"Kante, in terms of our needs and also the quality of the player," he said. "I think he's a player who'd suit our team perfectly. He's French, and bringing a Frenchman back would be good as far as the attractiveness of our league is concerned. I think all the French love N'Golo Kante, and it would be a pleasure to see him again in our league."
There have been links between Kante and PSG as of late too. According to UOL (h/t Lucas Sposito of Sport Witness), the French champions want to bolster their defensive options in midfield; Monaco man Fabinho and Kante are said to be on their list of targets.
While PSG are packed full of attacking talent, they hav looked a little flaky at times in defence up against some of the best sides in Europe.
Kante would undoubtedly be a solution to some of those issues, as these figures from Squawka Football show:
The midfielder has spent one season in Ligue 1 previously with Caen before moving to Leicester City in the summer of 2015.
He enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign in the Premier League, propelling the Foxes to one of the biggest surprises in the history of English football as they won the title.
The following summer he moved to Chelsea and was crucial in the Blues being crowned champions.
While this season was Kante's first in England that hasn't concluded with the Premier League trophy, he's been Chelsea's most consistent performer once again.
As noted by football journalist Kieran Canning, Kante has a massive influence on the players around him:
PSG have had some problems in this area of the field at times this term. While Thiago Motta has been an outstanding defensive midfielder in the past, the Brazilian is undoubtedly a little past his best at this point in his career.
Kante would give the likes of Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani a tremendous platform from which to attack. He'd also be a fine complement to Adrien Rabiot and Marco Verratti, who each do their best work in more advanced areas of the field.
Kante has such a positive impact on this Chelsea side, so the Blues would not be willing to sell him. But with UEFA Champions League football unlikely at Stamford Bridge next season, PSG may feel as though this summer is an ideal one to try to prise one of France's best players away from the Premier League.
