UFC fighter Nate Diaz says Conor McGregor is terrified at the possibility of stepping into the Octagon with him for a third time.

Diaz won their first encounter via submission in March 2016 before McGregor won the rematch that August by majority decision.

When TMZ Sports asked Diaz about another bout over the weekend, he said McGregor is "scared for his life."

In a follow-up question asking if he had another big payday coming, Diaz said he is "getting paid regardless."

The American has not fought since losing his rematch with McGregor, while the Irishman's last UFC bout came in November 2016 against Eddie Alvarez.

As Sandhu noted, McGregor's attack on a bus carrying UFC fighters earlier this month could complicate an immediate return to the sport. That resulted in injuries to Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa, whose matches against Brandon Moreno and Anthony Pettis at UFC 223 had to be cancelled.

McGregor was charged with three misdemeanor counts of assault and one felony count of criminal mischief for his role in the attack.

Although many UFC fans would likely agree with Sandhu on McGregor's ideal next opponent, a decisive third clash between himself and Diaz could hold some appeal and offer the pair a way back into fighting regularly.
