Moe Wagner Declares for 2018 NBA Draft After 3 Seasons at Michigan

Moe Wagner has ended his three-year run at Michigan after declaring for the 2018 NBA draft on Saturday.

He announced the decision in an article for The Players' Tribune:

"I've decided to sign with an agent and enter the 2018 NBA draft.

"This wasn't an easy decision for me. I know people always say that, and maybe it sounds like they don't 100 percent mean it. But I'm telling you guys—the idea of leaving Michigan, of leaving this community, is really tough. This place has really started to feel like home.

"There's so many things about Michigan that I love, and that I'm going to miss."

With his college career in the rearview mirror, Wagner now turns his attention to improving his draft stock before the June 21 event in New York.

Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman doesn't have Wagner ranked among the top 50 prospects on his most recent draft big board.

Prior to Michigan's appearance in the Final Four, Wasserman projected the German native to be a second-round draft pick:

"Wagner at his best is certainly intriguing. The 6'11", 245-pounder just made three threes, as well as a few impressive off-the-dribble maneuvers against Texas A&M in the Sweet 16.

"And then he followed that by shooting 0-of-7 from behind the arc with four fouls and zero blocks versus Florida State in the Elite Eight. When Wagner's shot isn't falling, he isn't helping, considering he averages fewer than one assist, block and steal per game, and he struggles to defend inside and out."

Wagner is leaving Michigan on a high note after reaching the national title game in the NCAA tournament before losing to Villanova. He averaged a career-high 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as a junior.

The 20-year-old was named MVP of the Big Ten Tournament after leading the Wolverines to their second straight conference title.
