Pass-rusher Robert Quinn discussed his offseason trade from the Los Angeles Rams to the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.

Speaking to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Quinn was miffed with the Rams' decision to deal him: "It's like this, this is the first time I've been traded. You commit yourself to someone and you have your family turn their back on you."

Quinn later called the move to Miami a "breath of fresh air," and said he was "suffocating" in L.A., per Salguero.

In exchange for Quinn and a 2018 sixth-round draft pick, the Rams acquired fourth- and sixth-round selections from Miami.

The then-St. Louis Rams selected Quinn with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft out of North Carolina.

He registered 10.5 or more sacks in three straight seasons from 2012 through 2014, including a career-high 19.0 in 2013.

The two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro First Team selection has struggled to regain that form since, although he did finish with 32 tackles and 8.5 sacks last season.

Quinn appeared in 15 games in 2017 after missing a combined 15 contests in 2015 and 2016.

He will join a Miami defense that ranked 26th in the NFL last season with 30 sacks. He and fellow veteran defensive end Cameron Wake will look to push the Dolphins up the chart in that category.

The Quinn trade was part of a major offseason overhaul for the Rams, which resulted in their dealing for cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, and wide receiver Brandin Cooks, as well as signing defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
