Free-agent wide receiver Eric Decker expressed a willingness to return to the Denver Broncos, where he spent the first four years of his career.
Decker's comments about a potential reunion came during an interview with former NFL wideout Brandon Stokley, who works for 104.3 The Fan in Denver.
"Listen, there's no holdup on my end," Decker said when Stokley insisted he'd call the Broncos on his behalf. "So whoever you need to call for me, whoever you need to reach out to, please do."
The Denver Post's Nicki Jhabvala shared the full interaction between the two:
The Athletic's Vic Tafur reported in March that Decker had an official visit with the Oakland Raiders.
For the right price, signing Decker would make sense for the Broncos. Beyond Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, Denver doesn't have a wealth of receiving options. Going with Jordan Taylor or Isaiah McKenzie as the No. 3 receiver would be less than ideal in 2018.
Decker had 1,000-plus receiving yards in his final two years with the Broncos, but nobody expects him to be that player now. He turned 31 in March, and the presence of Peyton Manning likely inflated Decker's numbers in the Mile High City.
Still, the eight-year veteran caught 54 passes for 563 yards and a touchdown for the Tennessee Titans in 2017. Football Outsiders ranked Decker 50th in defense-adjusted yards above replacement among qualified wideouts.
The Broncos may envision selecting a receiver in the 2018 NFL draft to play behind Thomas and Sanders. Should Denver be open to signing an experienced free agent, Decker is a great fit.
