American Sloane Stephens continued her impressive upturn in form as she reached the semi-finals of the 2018 Miami Open Masters with a 6-1, 6-2 drubbing of No. 10 seed Angelique Kerber on Tuesday at Crandon Park Tennis Center.

In the men's draw, second seed Marin Cilic was knocked out as John Isner downed him 7-6 (0), 6-3 in the round of 16.

Meanwhile, Milos Raonic beat Jeremy Chardy 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last eight, and he was joined there by Chung Hyeon, who prevailed 6-4, 6-3 over Joao Sousa.

Stephens, 25, produced a remarkable display to dominate former world No. 1 Kerber and see herself through Tuesday's clash in just over an hour.

She claimed two breaks of serve in each set while conceding just one break point on her own serve, which she saved.

Kerber was no match for the U.S. Open champion, whose power and accuracy from the baseline proved clinical.

No. 13 seed Stephens will now, no matter what happens in the rest of the tournament, move into the world's top 10 next week, per WTA Insider:

Stephens wasn't the only American to enjoy a fine win on Tuesday morning.

Isner's victory was something of an upset but deserved.

He and Cilic traded blows in the opener, neither conceding a break point. But when it came to a tiebreak, Isner blitzed the world No. 3 7-0.

The 32-year-old's serve was firing throughout, and he finished the match with a first-serve percentage of 73 compared to Cilic's 58.

Isner took a crucial single break in the second set while again conceding no chances on his own serve, and he eventually sealed victory in 87 minutes to reach the quarter-finals.
