Man United to Reportedly Duel PSG for €150m-Rated Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Manchester United will reportedly face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in their effort to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who is said to be valued at around €150 million (£131.7 million) by Lazio.

That's the price tag Corriere dello Sport (h/t Mirror's Jack Rathborn) reported Lazio president Claudio Lotito wants for his Serb star, which leaves only an elite crew of potential suitors, which includes United, PSG and Real.

The Red Devils are believed to once again be gathering midfield targets despite signing Paul Pogba in 2016 followed by Nemanja Matic's arrival from Chelsea last summer.

Former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman acts as the agent for compatriot Milinkovic-Savic, and he said earlier this month that the Eagles talisman could even be considered an upgrade on United's club-record signing Pogba, per The Independent:

Rathborn's report made note of recent suggestions that Pogba could be sold this summer in order to make room for new arrivals, having been dropped on occasion this season by manager Jose Mourinho and struggling to meet expectations in general.

ESPN FC's pundit team recently analysed the Frenchman's situation at Old Trafford, with reports abound that he and Mourinho are not getting along smoothly and homegrown Scott McTominay arguably overtaking him in the pecking order:

PSG would have the funds to challenge for Milinkovic-Savic in spite of the supposed fee it would take to sign him, but it's less certain he'd star for Real, whose midfield already boasts Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro and others.

United, meanwhile, are poised to see Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini leave the squad when their contracts expire in the summer.

Juventus would have found it difficult to convince a direct Serie A rival to sell them such a valued star, but Il Messagero (h/t Calciomercato.com) said Milinkovic-Savic's valuation has priced them out of a move.

The 23-year-old's breakout campaign has seen him rack up 11 goals and seven assists in 37 appearances in all competitions, and Italian football writer David Amoyal didn't hold back when comparing his talent with stars past and present:

United would need to break their transfer record for the second time in the space of two years if they were to meet Lazio's supposed valuation of Milinkovic-Savic, having recaptured Pogba from Juve for £89 million in 2016.

Paris and Madrid will both look like appealing destinations to almost any star, but the Red Devils will hope their project can convince one of Europe's most sought-after stars to pick Manchester above all options.
