Friday's Semifinal Recap

Kansas 83, Kansas State 67

Malik Newman is officially feeling it.

A day after he torched the Oklahoma State Cowboys to the tune of 30 points, Newman dropped a team-high 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals as the Jayhawks downed the Wildcats, 83-67, to wrap up a spot in the Big 12 title game.

Kansas also received 12 points courtesy of senior sniper Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk as he drilled four triples while newly-minted Big 12 Player of the Year Devonte' Graham added 15 points and eight dimes.

Simply put, the Wildcats didn't have the scorers at their disposal to keep pace with that star-studded group.

Although Makol Mawien led all scorers with 29 points, Kansas State fought an uphill battle without Dean Wade and Barry Brown.

Wade wasn't in the lineup because of a foot injury, while Brown was forced to leave minutes into the first half after he was hit in the face. According to the ESPN broadcast, the Wildcats decided to hold Brown out for the remainder of the contest because some slight bleeding started in the corner of his right eye.

Kansas State will now focus on getting those two back at full strength in time for the Big Dance.

The Jayhawks, meanwhile, are headed back to the conference championship stage for the third time since 2015.

The West Virginia Mountaineers are headed to the Big 12 championship game for the third straight year after outlasting Texas Tech in a 66-63 nail-biter.

As has often been the case this season, West Virginia was able to come out on top thanks to its senior guard play.

Daxter Miles Jr. paced the Mountaineers with 22 points while Jevon Carter dropped 17 of his own as the duo combined to make nine of West Virginia's 10 threes.

Sagaba Konate proved huge for West Virginia as well.

Although he had just five points entering crunch time, the sophomore forward accounted for six of WVU's final seven points over the last three minutes and ensured the Mountaineers will have a date with the Jayhawks on Saturday in a rematch of the 2016 title tilt.

West Virginia will be looking for a different result this time around after Kansas won the last meeting behind a stellar effort from Graham.
