R.J. Adelman, a former NBA assistant coach and son of former NBA head coach Rick Adelman, died Feb. 2 after being struck by a car.
He was 44.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports, Adelman was walking in downtown Houston when he was hit by an 80-year-old woman driving a minivan. Adelman, who was not using the crosswalk, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead four hours after the accident.
The younger Adelman served as an assistant coach under his father during his time with the Rockets and was also a scout for the Seattle SuperSonics and Sacramento Kings. He was also a director of player personnel with the Minnesota Timberwolves during Rick's time with the franchise.
The woman driving the vehicle has not been charged with a crime at this point. However, police have said the investigation is still ongoing.
Adelman died as a result of blunt force injuries sustained during the crash.
